LEARN JIU JITSU WITH GREAT PEOPLE - AZLE, ALEDO, SURROUNDING

Let's Go!

What is Jiu Jitsu?

Jiu Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting techniques, emphasizing leverage and technique over brute strength. It teaches practitioners how to defend themselves by using their opponent's force against them, making it highly effective for individuals of all sizes. Through various submissions like joint locks and chokeholds, Jiu Jitsu allows someone to neutralize larger, stronger opponents, making it popular for self-defense and competitive sports alike. It’s not only a physical discipline but also a mental one, requiring strategy, patience, and precision.

History of Jiu Jitsu

Jiu Jitsu traces its origins to ancient Japan, where it was developed as a battlefield art by the samurai. It emphasized techniques for defeating armed and armored opponents using minimal weapons, relying on grappling, joint locks, and throws. Over time, Jiu Jitsu evolved into various styles, including Judo, which focused on throws and groundwork. In the early 20th century, Brazilian brothers Carlos and Hélio Gracie adapted traditional Jiu Jitsu into what is now known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), emphasizing ground fighting and submissions. BJJ gained global recognition through its effectiveness in mixed martial arts (MMA) competitions and has since become a popular martial art worldwide for both self-defense and sport.

THE METCHENFIT BRAND OF JIU JITSU

Warrior Grappling System - Blend of Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling

MetchenFit Warrior Grappling System offers a unique approach to Jiu Jitsu that sets it apart from other gyms. At the core of our system is a blend of Jiu Jitsu and wrestling with over 13 years of experience in Brazilian and Gracie Jiu Jitsu, alongside 16+ years of Folkstyle wrestling expertise. Our curriculum is designed to systematically build a strong foundation at the white belt (Private / Private First Class) level and evolve into advanced techniques as students progress towards black belt (Warrior King). This structured approach ensures that every student masters the fundamentals before moving on to more complex skills.

Unlike other gyms that teach random techniques and prioritize live rolling above all else, we take a more disciplined, strategic route. Every class is part of a well-thought-out curriculum that builds progressively from basics to advanced technical proficiency. We integrate the positional control of wrestling with the submission mastery of Jiu Jitsu, creating well-rounded grapplers who can dominate on the mat.

Our system also incorporates elements from Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling, Catch as Catch Can wrestling, MMA, boxing, and kickboxing.  This gives our students a comprehensive skill set, making them versatile in various grappling and striking scenarios.

While other gyms may focus heavily on live rolling, our approach emphasizes deliberate practice, technical drilling, and strategic progression. This ensures that you’re not just going through the motions but are developing a deep, technical understanding of the art, leading to long-term success and injury prevention.
